Making Sense Of The CBD Craze With CrossFit Legend Mat Fraser

Dropper with CBD oil. Cannabis cbd bottle isolated. Hemp leaf. Medical marijuana concept

We get the within scoop about Fraser’s journey into the CBD world, and the way it’s improved his life.

I’m not typically one to urge star struck.

This is probably because, over the years, I’ve worked with a number of the most important names in Hollywood, shared the stage with a number of the most important names in music, and have taken meetings with a number of the foremost powerful politicians within the world.

After a short time, you only get a touch numb to the thrill of it all. But this wasn’t the case a couple of weeks ago once I had the chance to interview CrossFit legend, Mat Fraser.

I gave this some consideration, trying to work out why I did get a touch starstruck during this situation, and that I came to the conclusion that it had been because Mat Fraser is one among the foremost celebrated athletes within the world of CrossFit: A method of high-intensity interval training including a network comprised of highly enthusiastic individuals.

I actually started doing CrossFit about three years ago, and that I can honestly say that it had been one among the simplest decisions I’ve ever made.

Not only am I stronger and healthier today than I used to be 30 years ago, back while I used to be still in college, but I’m also more confident, more motivated, and fewer anxious and stressed in everything I do.

It has been incredibly beneficial for my psychological state and my relationships. It’s improved my quality of life in tremendous ways, and quite frankly, has just helped me become a far better person.

So as you’ll imagine, meeting one among the foremost celebrated athletes of a sport that has had such an enormous influence on my life, was reasonably exciting on my behalf me. Particularly because during this instance, my discussion with Fraser revolved mostly around CBD: A really popular compound found in cannabis and one that I’ve been writing about for years.

You see, last year, Mat Fraser joined forces with two other professional athletes to make their own CBD supplement that was essentially inspired by Fraser’s own supplement demands. What they came up with were two special blends of CBD, superfoods, adaptogens, and compounds which will provide both mental clarity and restful sleep. One is named DREAM and therefore the other is named CLARITY.

You can read my review of those blends, which are produced and sold under the beam brand, here.

Now, as a long-time cannabis and CBD consumer, I used to be certainly happy to review the beam. But as a CrossFit enthusiast, I also wanted to understand more about the merchandise and the way it really fits into Fraser’s life. And while Fraser is actively training at the instant, he was kind enough to require a couple of minutes out of his day to offer me an interview that I’m very excited to share with you today.

JS: Over the past few years, we’ve seen tons of athletes get very vocal about using CBD to assist with things like sleep, inflammation, stress, etc. And these are some serious athletes, too. Guys like Tyson, Ricky Williams, Nate Diaz and you, as well. When did you begin using CBD, and the way did you discover it?

MF: Well, I had been hearing tons about CBD, and I’m always on the lookout for things that will help me gain a foothold. And if it’s something that helps, and that I can implement it easily, then I’m all for it. I actually had my manager try it first though, to form sure I wouldn’t find yourself testing positive for love or money. He took huge doses for a month, every day, then he passed the drug test with no problems. So I started taking it to assist me to sleep. I sometimes struggle with getting an honest night’s sleep, and this helps.

JS: Yeah, I read that you simply attempt to get around 10 hours of sleep per night. So I might imagine that battling sleep while trying to urge 10 hours might be frustrating.

MF: Well, the DREAM blend helps me slow the chatter down in my head so I can sleep. I usually take it about a half-hour before bed and it helps me get drowsy so I can nod off easily.

JS: does one find that there are other CrossFit athletes of your caliber using CBD, too?

MF: Pretty sure quite a few are using it. I do know the feedback about DREAM has been huge. I couldn’t be happier with the merchandise, and hope people really enjoy it.

JS: Back in 2018, during the Crossfit Open, I saw a thread on a message board, where someone asked, “What are you brooding about while doing 18.2?” A number of the responses were, “Why am I paying for this?” “Am I getting to die?” But I assumed about it and discovered that I wasn’t brooding about anything. I used to be so focused on the movements and pushing myself that nothing else was in my head. Which made me realize that this was essentially a sort of meditation on my behalf. Is that this something that you simply or perhaps anyone else within the Crossfit community has discussed? And for those that perhaps have a tough time getting those random thoughts out of their heads while doing a WOD (Workout of the Day), does one think CLARITY could help with that?

MF: Absolutely. And once you ask what people are brooding about while understanding, you’ll get 1,000,000 different answers. For me, when watching the whiteboard, it really helps to specialize in only one piece at a time. Then, a couple of hours pass, and wow, you’re done!

Full disclosure: At now I’m thinking to myself: A couple of hours?!! Thus the humbling experience of speaking with knowledgeable athletes. 🙂

JS: once you were arising with the varied ingredients in CLARITY and DREAM, did you’ve got any requirements regarding where these ingredients were sourced, how they’re processed, and what you expected from the blends?

MF: All the CBD is formed from organically-grown hemp in Colorado, and tested for pesticides, metals, and other additives that sometimes aren’t disclosed by other CBD brands. There’s no excuse for unclean supplements, and ours are sourced from reliable people. Regarding what I wanted with the blends, I definitely wanted something convenient. Before getting to bed, I used to be taking numerous different pills. I wanted something like the nighttime routine, but without taking multiple pills. Something that might be convenient and just put together into one dose.

JS: Joe Rogan may be a big fan of CBD, and in fact, also staying fit and healthy. Sometimes he discusses Crossfit, and he seems to possess respect for it, but he never has an expert are available and mention it. If invited, would you ever appear on his podcast? looks like you’d be the right guest to speak about the game, also as your relationship with CBD.

MF: I’m an enormous fan of his podcast. I throw it on all the time and like to listen when he talks with experts in various fields. Yeah, I might like to do his podcast.

This would just about be the last word trifecta for me: Mat Fraser, Joe Rogan, and a deep dive into the planet of Crossfit and CBD. So if you recognize Joe, ask him to offer Mat a shout!
